ABOUT US
I’ve Rebuilt Twice. That’s Why I Do This Work.
Most advisors study business transitions. Mike Wolfgang has lived them. Twice. Before founding Spearpoint Advisors, he flew Marine One for President Clinton, led two successful business turnarounds, and spent four years as a certified EOS Implementer helping founders build companies that run themselves. Then life intervened — and changed everything.

Who This Is For
Mike works with a limited number of clients. If you’re a founder-led business owner doing $2M–$150M who is serious about building, protecting, and eventually transitioning a business you’ve worked hard to create — and you want a direct, experienced advisor who will tell you the truth about where you stand — you’re in the right place.
Growing Up with an Entrepreneur’s Mindset
Mike Wolfgang didn’t learn about business in a classroom. He learned it on a dock. His family owned and operated a marina on the Mississippi River, and from a young age Mike understood what it meant to run a real operation — the customer relationships, the seasonal pressures, the responsibility of keeping something alive that a lot of people depended on.
That early exposure to how a business actually works — not the theory of it, but the daily reality of it — shaped everything that came after. It gave him a practical, grounded understanding of what founder-led businesses look and feel like from the inside. An understanding he would spend decades deepening in ways nobody could have predicted.
Chapter 3 — The Business Career
Two Turnarounds. Four Years in the Room with Founders.
After the Marine Corps, Mike moved into business leadership — and immediately into some of the hardest situations a leader can face.
Vivid Print Solutions
Mike became President of Vivid Print Solutions during one of the most difficult periods the printing industry had ever seen. Post-recession, the industry was contracting. Competitors were folding. Mike led a turnaround that stabilized the business and positioned it for recovery — not by cutting everything in sight, but by making the business operationally stronger and more resilient than it had been before the downturn.
Western Graphics
Under his leadership, Western Graphics achieved 8% revenue growth while the broader printing industry contracted by 20% — a result that required not just operational discipline but the kind of strategic clarity that most businesses in crisis can’t find. The engagement ended with a successful exit — the kind of outcome Mike would go on to help many other business owners achieve.
Led Western Graphics to 8% growth while the printing industry contracted 20% post-recession — then executed a successful exit.
EOS Implementer — 4 Years
After Western Graphics, Mike spent four years as a certified EOS Implementer through EOS Worldwide — working directly with founders and their leadership teams to install the Entrepreneurial Operating System into their businesses. He helped dozens of businesses work through it — and in doing so, developed a deep understanding of the common patterns that hold founder-led businesses back and the specific interventions that change them.
Chapter 2 — The Marine Corps
Flying Marine One. Leadership at the Highest Level.
Mike served a decade in the United States Marine Corps as a helicopter crew chief, responsible for the maintenance and operational readiness of CH-53 and VH-3D aircraft. The standards in that environment are absolute. There is no margin for error. Every system, every procedure, every decision carries real consequences.
He was selected by his peers to serve as a Marine One crew chief — flying President Clinton around the world. That selection wasn’t made by rank or seniority. It was made by the trust of the people who worked alongside him every day.
The Marine Corps gave Mike something that no business school curriculum teaches: the ability to operate with precision and accountability under pressure, to hold an organization to high standards without exception, and to lead people through situations where the stakes are genuinely high. Those habits didn’t stay in uniform. They came with him into every business he’s touched since.

Why Spearpoint Advisors Exists
The Mission Is Personal. The Work Is Practical.
Spearpoint Advisors exists because Mike Wolfgang has seen, from multiple angles, what happens when business owners are unprepared for the unexpected. He’s seen it in the businesses he turned around — companies that were fragile because everything ran through one person. He’s seen it in the EOS engagements where owners realized, often late, that the business couldn’t survive them stepping away. And he’s felt it personally, in the moments when his own life forced him to confront exactly how much he’d built that depended on him being present and healthy.
The name Spearpoint is intentional. A spear point is the leading edge — the part of the instrument that makes contact first. Mike’s advisory work is designed to be exactly that: the first and most important point of contact between a business owner and a future that actually works the way they want it to. Not reactive. Not last-minute. Early, deliberate, and built to make a real difference.
50% of Owners Are Forced Out. Mike Has Lived a Version of That Reality.
Death. Divorce. Disability. Disagreement. Disruption. These are the 5 Ds — and they account for half of all business exits. Not planned. Not on the owner’s terms. And 80% of those owners had no plan in place when it happened, despite 80% of their personal net worth being tied up in the business they just lost control of.
Death · Divorce · Disability · Disagreement · Disruption
Mike has experienced versions of nearly every one of these forces personally — health disruption, caregiving, and the kind of market disruption that Covid brought to every industry. Those experiences didn’t just change his perspective. They made the statistical reality of the 5 Ds feel immediate and personal in a way that abstract numbers never could.
That’s why every service Spearpoint offers — every coaching engagement, every valuation, every exit plan, every operational system — is ultimately designed to answer the same question: if one of the 5 Ds showed up tomorrow, would this owner be protected?
“The 5 Ds don’t announce themselves. I know that firsthand. The work we do is about making sure that when they arrive — and for half of all business owners, they will — you’re not scrambling. You’re ready.”

Credentials & Advisory Philosophy
What Mike Brings to Every Engagement
CEPA Certified
Certified Exit Planning Advisor through the Exit Planning Institute — the professional credential for advisors who specialize in helping business owners prepare for and execute successful exits.
EOS Implementer — 4 Years
Certified Implementer through EOS Worldwide. Four years working directly with founder-led leadership teams to install the Entrepreneurial Operating System and build businesses that run with clarity and accountability.
USMC Veteran — Marine One Crew Chief
A decade of service in the United States Marine Corps. Selected by peers to serve as crew chief on Marine One, flying President Clinton around the world.
2× Business Turnaround Leader
President of Vivid Print Solutions (successful post-recession turnaround) and Western Graphics (8% growth while the industry contracted 20%, followed by a successful exit).
2× Business Rebuild
Rebuilt his own business twice — once during Covid, and once while simultaneously providing care for his father and battling cancer.
Direct. Practical. Honest.
Mike’s advisory approach is shaped by the environments he’s operated in — the Marine Corps, two business turnarounds, four years as an EOS Implementer, and the personal experience of rebuilding under genuinely difficult circumstances. Those environments don’t produce advisors who hedge. They produce advisors who tell you what they see, what it means, and what they think you should do about it.
Every engagement starts with a real assessment of where the business stands. Not a selling conversation. Not a discovery call designed to close a deal. A genuine look at the business — its value, its vulnerabilities, its leadership gaps, and the distance between where it is and where the owner needs it to be.
Mike works with a small number of clients at any given time. That’s intentional. The advisory work that matters is sustained, specific, and connected to real outcomes — not a volume business where every client gets the same template.
If This Sounds Like the Kind of Advisor You’ve Been Looking For, Let’s Find Out If We’re a Fit.
Mike works with a limited number of clients. The first step is a single, honest conversation about where your business is, where you want it to go, and whether Spearpoint is the right fit to help you get there.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Question
Delegation and decision-making
Learning to push decisions to the lowest practical level — and trust the people you’ve built around you to make them.
Building a leadership culture where people own outcomes, not just tasks. Clear roles, clear expectations, clear consequences.
How you show up in the room determines how your team performs. We work on the habits, patterns, and blind spots that leaders often can’t see in themselves.
Strategic thinking vs. operational thinking
Most founders are stuck in the weeds. Leadership coaching helps you develop the discipline to work on the business — not just in it.
For many founder-led businesses, the leadership gap isn’t just the founder. It’s the absence of a real leadership team. We help you identify, develop, and align the people around you.
Whether you’re preparing to step back, bring on a partner, or build toward an exit — leadership coaching is often the first and most important step.
